Foel Farm Park – Disability Accessibility Statement
Foel Farm Park, Foel Farm Country Cafe and Siocled Mon welcomes all visitors and strives to make the site accessible to everyone.
The farm is in a rural location and some parts of the farm include slopes, hilly terrain and uneven surfaces.
Opening times – February – November – 10.00 am to 5.00 pm please note that there are days in March / April / May / September/ October/ November when the farm closes earlier if there are no visitors in the late afternoon and in late October when the clocks go back from British Summer time to Greenwich meantime. Please telephone to check on opening times.
Car Parking – free on site – graveled surfaces and grass ( in drier weather). An area on hard gravel standing is available for disabled parking close to main entrance to the farm, Siocled Mon and Country Cafe – can be booked in advance on 01248 430646 (approximately 5 to 15metres from the entrances).
Drop off – at the main entrance by the roundabout – gravelled surface – assistance can be available if required (ask at the shop counter).
Public transport – is very limited – No 42 bus service from Bangor / Llangefni to the village of Brynsiencyn (1.5 miles to Foel Farm Park) daily and just one service on Sunday to the Anglesey Sea Zoo (0.35 miles to Foel Farm Park). Contact Arriva for times / prices on 08706 082608.
Trains – nearest main line station is Bangor (request stop at Llanfairpwll).
Main shop entrance – Small ramps at the main entrance and out to the farm yard. Shop accessible to wheelchair users.
Reception and shop counter – has not yet been modified for wheelchair users and smaller people – no loop installed – assistance is available when required to reach higher shelves and the shop/entrance admissions counter.
Wheelchair accessible unisex toilet – inside the farm yard with a slight sloped concrete surface leading to this facility- (available to non paying visitors) and separate ladies and gents toilets available near the entrance adjacent to the country cafe / Siocled Mon and in the farm yard. Baby changing facility in the ladies next to tea-room and dedicated facility across the farm yard.
Foel Farm Country Cafe – is accessible to wheelchair users. Staff will take food and drink orders at tables and carry orders to the tables if the serving counter is too high. Steps to the outside seating area overlooking the sea – this area can be accessed by following the path round the outside of the building.
The farm yard and animal barns – accessible to wheelchair users – surface is easily accessed concrete with slopes in and out of the main barn – hand washing at the end of the barn with three different height basins. A small (4 cm) difference in height from the yard to the bunny barn entrance – help available for wheel chair users.
Yard and walkway to the tractor and trailer pick up point, play area and picnic site, pond and sand play and to the animal paddocks is hard gravel surface including the old farm lane – and a mowed grass walkway through the main animal paddocks are all accessible to wheelchair users – there is a steep grass slope at the end of the paddocks not suitable for wheelchair access.
Tractor and trailer rides – the trailer is accessed by three steps with hand rail and is unsuitable for persons who cannot manage steps – assistance can be given to lift a wheel chair onto the trailer in some circumstances.
Quad and trailer rides – the trailer is accessed by two awkward steps – unsuitable for persons with mobility difficulties, those with bad backs or pregnant ladies – assistance is available to access this trailer in some circumstances.
